As founding members of APICAA, we are aware of the fact that solidarity between peoples is one of the most important factors in maintaining peace in the world, and that this solidarity is above all rooted in a more even distribution of the land in terms of wealth and knowledge. We believe that economic and social development cannot be directed solely by the State, and that each free, conscientious citizen aspires to an improvement of his condition, to the preservation of the environment and the necessity of handing over a viable, healthy planet to future generations.

In order for concepts such as sustainable development, fair trade, cultural preservation, new forms of economic cooperation, and the fight against poverty to be more than empty words, and for these concepts to combine and effect the improvement of the 'Gross National Happiness' in Africa and Asia, and to permit more efficient action between citizens and national agencies, we have decided to create an association to highlight the challenges before us, and carry our intentions to the highest levels.
